Pokemon Conquest is an engaging tactical role-playing video game produced by Tecmo Koei and released by Nintendo in the Japanese market in March 2012. The game is dedicated to the Nintendo DS console game, marking the first collaboration between the Pokemon video game series and Nobunaga's Ambition.

Engaging Story

The context of the game revolves around the vast land of Ransei, where 17 different kingdoms are living in harmony. The villagers are informed of a legend that the legendary Pokemon that created the Ransei Region, Arceus, is about to awaken and that the only person who can encounter and gather its omnipotent power is the one who can unify all 17 kingdoms of the Ransei Region. As the legend spread, all the Warriors and Lords across the region joined in battles to find a way to complete the lore and master Arceus.

Joining the game, you will play the role of the Lord of the kingdom of Aurora, along with his companion Oichi, on a journey to stop the senseless wars across the lands of Ransei. As the Lord of the kingdom of Aurora, the only way for the player to end the aggression and hostility of the Kingdoms is to defeat and unify all the Kingdoms in the region. The biggest opponent in the game that you have to defeat is Nobunaga. He has successfully conquered three of the 17 Kingdoms, with ambitions to complete the Legend of Ransei and use Arceus's power to destroy Ransei.

Even so, the final battle revealed Nobunaga's true purpose. After you defeat him, Nobunaga confesses that he just wants to bring peace to Ransei. He believes that the legendary Pokemon Arceus is the cause of the conflict and that the way to end the war is to defeat Arceus. Even so, the player made a good bond with Arceus and successfully tamed this Pokemon, and that satisfied Nobunaga despite being defeated. At the end of the game, peace returned everywhere in the land of Ransei.

Gameplay

Pokemon Conquest brings the experience of exploring the vast Ransei land to players. You'll accompany Eevee, a special Pokemon that can evolve into one of eight different types of Pokemon, to walk around Ransei and meet new Warriors and Lords. If you defeat Warriors and Lords along the way, you can use their Pokemon in battles and recruit them to your army, helping you quickly unify the Realms. The game changes some details in turn-based battles compared to its predecessors, such as different Pokemon capable of using different attacks and vehicles, or Warriors and Lords also have a unique battle-changing power that boosts their Pokemon's abilities but can only be used once per battle.

More specifically, the Pokemon in the game will have a super skill that only one of its species has. You can tell which species a Pokemon belongs to by observing its super skills, such as the Excadrill Pokemon that can display its unique Drill Run. The game also offers a fun history lesson, as the various Warriors and Lords in the game are named after characters from Japanese history, including Nobunaga. After the main story ends and the player defeats Nobunaga, you can experience 36 special episodes of the game, each featuring one of the different Lords, all of which are real in Japanese history.
