Sonic Battle is a 2003 fighting game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Game Boy Advance. The game features various characters from the Sonic franchise battling it out in a 3D arena-style fighting game.
The game's story mode follows Sonic and his friends as they try to stop Dr. Eggman from obtaining the power of a powerful ancient artifact called the "Gizoid". Along the way, they must battle various enemies and rivals, such as Knuckles, Amy, and Shadow, who also seek to gain control of the Gizoid.
Gameplay
The gameplay in Sonic Battle is a mix of traditional fighting game mechanics, such as special moves and combos, with platforming elements, such as jumping and dodging. Players can choose from a variety of characters, each with their own unique moves and abilities.
The game's controls are relatively easy to pick up, with basic attacks mapped to a single button and more complex moves executed by pressing combinations of buttons. However, the game's AI can be frustratingly difficult at times, leading to some frustrating battles and cheap losses.
Sonic Battle also features a multiplayer mode, allowing players to battle against each other using a link cable or the Game Boy Advance's wireless adapter.
Graphics
The graphics in Sonic Battle are relatively basic, with simple 2D sprites for the characters and backgrounds. The sound design is also somewhat lacking, with repetitive sound effects and music that can get annoying after a while.
Sonic Battle is a fun but flawed fighting game that offers a decent amount of content for fans of the Sonic franchise. While it can be frustrating at times, it is an enjoyable game that offers some unique gameplay mechanics and a decent amount of replay value with its story mode and multiplayer mode.
