Pokemon - Yellow Version
Pokemon Yellow Rom is a special version of the Pokemon franchise developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo. Released in September 1998, the game was designed specifically for the Game Boy console and is an improved version of Pokemon Red and Blue. The theme of Pokemon Yellow is inspired by the anime, with the brand character Pikachu at the heart of the game.
The Plot
The entire setting of Pokemon Yellow rom takes place in the Kanto region, a real land in Japan. It's home to 151 different species of Pokemon that you can collect and train. Unlike previous games in the series, you won't be able to choose between three starter Pokemon. Instead, your default Pokemon will be Pikachu, passed down from your previous trainer, Professor Oak. The game is based on its anime series, mostly from the Indigo League. As a result, you'll get to meet familiar characters from the anime or built from the original, including Jessie, James, Meowth, Nurse Joy, and Officer Jenny. At the same time, the original plot also implies that your arch-rival will control Pokemon Eevee.
Joining the game, you'll embark on an exciting journey of collecting Pokemon to fill the Pokedex and using trained Pokemon to defeat eight powerful Gym Leaders before taking on The Elite Four. Pikachu has some structural problems that have hindered its evolution, and you will have to help Pikachu overcome these challenges to become stronger, just like what happens in anime. The game's side story involves you having to fight Team Rocket, a criminal organization that kidnaps Pokemon and tortures them to make them reach their maximum power.
After defeating Team Rocket, you will focus on the quest to defeat the Elite Four after having collected all 149 different Pokemon of the game. The game's ending opens up to an epic scene, as you're allowed to explore the fabled Cerulean Caves to encounter Mewtwo, the last Pokemon on the planet.
Gameplay
Pokemon Yellow rom retains the immersive third-person gameplay of the franchise's previous games. You will collect wild Pokemon and train them to fight Pokemon other trainers in turn-based battles. In these fierce battles, the health of the Pokemon is limited. When a Pokemon's health bar is exhausted, it will faint and cannot continue fighting until it is revived. Winning matches will help Pokemon earn experience points to accumulate and level up. Thanks to that, the Pokemon can evolve and become stronger as the stats improve. Players can collect wild Pokemon by throwing Pokeballs. The stronger your Pokeball, the higher the chance to successfully catch the Pokemon. Once captured, Pokemon will be added to your Pokedex so you can use them at will in battle.
Pikachu is at the heart of the game, and it is given both a unique voice and personality compared to other Pokemon. Pikachu will accompany you throughout your journey to explore the world, and you can talk to it to test the interaction by pressing A. It will be slightly indifferent to you when the game starts but will gradually become closer to you as you train and level up Pikachu. However, if you make Pikachu faint too much, it will feel unhappy and slow down its evolution.
Also, the game introduces a unique feature called "Pikachu Surfing." Players can use their Pokemon to learn the skill "Surf," a Water-based attack, and apply this skill to real battles. Thanks to that, the battles will become much more interesting.
