Pokemon Blue is a role-playing action game released in 1996 by Nintendo, combined with Pokemon Red, released the same year, to create the Red and Blue team. The game was developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy game console. In the game, you will control a Pokemon trainer from an overhead perspective and navigate him across the vast land of Kanto to collect, train, and battle other Pokemon trainers. The player's top 2 goals in the game are to become the champion of the Indigo League by defeating eight Gym Leaders and the Elite Four and to complete the Pokedex, an in-game encyclopedia, by collecting 151 wild Pokemon scattered across the map.

Background And Plot

Pokemon Blue takes place on the island of Kanto, a separate area where 151 species of Pokemon live in harmony with humans. The island of Kanto consists of many different cities, and at the head of each city is a Gym Leader, the region's top Pokemon trainer. You will start the game in Pallet Town, where you meet Professor Oak, a famous Pokémon researcher. The professor will guide you through the existence of wild Pokemon and how to collect them through Pokeball and train them.

Your most important mission in the game is to explore areas of the city and defeat eight Gym Leaders to collect eight badges. These badges form the basis of your entry into the Indigo League, which features the best Pokemon trainers in the region. Defeating every opponent in the Indigo League, including the Elite Four, will make you the new Pokemon champion and complete the main story of the game. Along with the main story, you can also enjoy the second storyline of the game, which involves fighting against the forces of Team Rocket. They are a criminal organization that plots to abuse and torture Pokemon to tame them for various evil purposes. You will have to find a way to defeat Team Rocket with the help of allies to free the Pokemon.

Gameplay

Pokémon Blue is built in a third-person perspective, where you will control Pokemon to participate in turn-based battles with Pokemon of other trainers. You'll use the controls to activate each Pokemon's four moves to attack your opponent in battle. The health bar of the Pokemon is called HP. When receiving an attack from an opponent, the HP bar will decrease in proportion to the amount of damage the Pokemon takes. When the HP score is 0, the player's Pokemon will faint and cannot fight until it is revived. If you attack and cause your opponent's Pokemon to be faint, you win the battle and are rewarded with experience points that help the Pokemon level up, learn new moves, and evolve into new forms.

You can use Pokeballs to collect wild Pokemon you encounter along the way. The lower the HP of the target Pokemon, the stronger the stun effect the Pokemon suffers, or the greater the power of your Pokeball, the more likely you are to collect the Pokemon successfully. In total, you can collect 151 Pokemon in the game to fill up your Pokedex.

The unique feature of Pokemon Blue is that it allows players to exchange Pokemon with other versions of the franchise. By using Game Link Cable, you can collect the full 151 Pokemon for your Pokedex from other versions. At the same time, Link Cable also allows you to fight with your friends' Pokemon, making the matches more intense and entertaining.
