Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars is a role-playing video game released in 1996. The game is produced by Square and published by Nintendo. It marked the last game released for the SNES console before it was discontinued. The game follows the journey of Mario and his friends as they battle Smithy. The purpose of the battle is to reclaim the seven Star Road star shards that Smithy stole when he broke into Mario's world.

Super Mario RPG is an important breakthrough for the Mario franchise, as it is the first role-playing game in the series. You will engage in fierce turn-based battles with a party of up to three characters. The game also impresses with its humor, professional 3D graphics, and vast game worlds to explore.

Thrilling Storyline

The vast world of Mario is a geographically diverse land, with different species living in harmony in their territory. Like every other Mario game, your goal is to rescue Princess Toadstool from Bowser. However, the game has opened up a different storyline when your main opponent is Smithy, a robotic blacksmith from another dimension who is plotting to rule the world. Smithy leads his army, known as the Smithy Gang, and drives them to wreak havoc throughout the Mario world.

To stop the Smithy Gang, Mario will have to ask for the help of his teammates. They include Mallow, a boy who thinks he's a tadpole; Geno, a doll controlled by a spirit from Star Road; Bowser, who was often the main antagonist in previous Mario games, and whom the military abandoned for fear of the Smithy Gang; and finally Princess Toadstool.

The game's final battle occurs in Bowser's castle, where Mario and his companions discover that Smithy is mass-producing his army there. The main party defeats Smithy and fully recovers seven-star shards of Star Road. As a result, Star Road was repaired, and the characters returned to their own worlds to celebrate their victory.

Gameplay

Super Mario RPG is a role-playing game based on the basic elements of the genre. The game is inspired by the Final Fantasy series, and the two main missions that players need to care about are adventure and turn-based combat. Mario's party consists of five characters, but only Mario and up to two other members participate in battles. Therefore, you can swap to control other characters to explore the world of the game while Mario fights.

When participating in turn-based battles, you can press the controls to attack, defend, run, use items, or cast spells from the battle menu to attack your opponents. This basic gameplay laid the foundation for later Mario role-playing games. In addition, each playable character has its own unique set of attacks and techniques for you to enjoy while playing. For example, Princess Toadstool has miracles to heal herself or her teammates, while Geno and Bowser have powerful attacks to help Mario's party quickly destroy enemies.

Overall, Mario RPG is the pinnacle game in its franchise, with the gameplay points kept unchanged from its predecessors. Plus, with its beautiful combat effects, compelling story, and improved game world, the game is definitely worth a try.
