Pokémon Crystal is the game that marks the end of the Game Boy Color era. First released by Nintendo in the Japanese market in December 2000, the game is an improved version of Pokemon Gold and Silver, with many significant improvements in graphics as well as gameplay. It was launched internationally in 2001 and brilliantly surpassed great expectations where Gold and Silver had made their big breakthrough before.
Attractive Plot
The story of Pokemon Crystal still revolves around the main issues that Pokemon Gold and Silver mentioned earlier. The game's central character, the legendary Pokemon Suicune, has taken on a more important role in the plot than in the previous two games in the franchise. Unlike it finding you as Pikachu does in Pokemon Yellow, in Pokemon Crystal, you will have to search for Suicune on your own throughout your adventure in various locations in the vast Johto land.
The plot of Pokemon Crystal changes slightly from the original, as when first encountering the three Legendary beasts, Suicune will not play ball with its four-legged brothers, Entei and Raikou, when walking wandering in the world of Johto. Instead, the journey of this legendary Pokemon will take unexpected turns, so you have to keep an eye on it. Besides, you always need to pay attention to the quest to awaken the legendary trio of Suicune, Entei, and Raikou, when that is the only way to challenge Gym Leader Ecruteak Morty. At the start of the game, Suicune can be seen in various locations throughout Johto. However, when you give this legendary creature a Clear Bell, its location is permanently moved to the Tin Tower.
The exciting new journey of Pokemon Crystal introduces you to Mythicalman Eusine, an avid researcher and expert in Legendary Pokemon. He claims to have pursued Suicune for 10 years, with the sole goal of finding Suicune and earning the legendary Pokemon's respect by defeating every opponent in Cianwood City. The story of Mythicalman Eusine is an outstanding contribution to the legacy of Gold and Silver, contributing to the amazement of players and making them curious about the world of Pokémon and the fascinating creatures that inhabit this unique world.
Gameplay
Pokémon Crystal introduces exciting new features while inheriting the excellent gameplay of Gold and Silver. Unlike previous versions, it is the first Pokemon game that allows players to choose the gender of their character instead of forcing the character's gender to always be male. At the same time, Crystal also introduced a feature that is considered standard for all subsequent Pokemon games: the addition of animations for each Pokemon sprite. For example, when a Cyndaquil enters battle, the flames on its back will flicker. That makes players enjoy the exciting bonus of witnessing the details and characteristics of the Pokemon they collect and makes filling up their Pokedex worthwhile.
Battle Tower is also a notable addition to the Pokemon Crystal version. It is a new building that allows players to participate in Pokémon Stadium-like battles as a great challenge during and after the match. In addition, the game also gives you a chance to meet the mythical Pokemon Celebi in an event after completing the main adventure.
More specifically, the game offers a paid Pokémon Bank service, which helps you bring the Pokémon you caught in this version of Pokemon Crystal into subsequent games such as Pokemon Sun, Pokemon Moon, Pokémon Ultra Sun, and Pokémon Ultra Moon.
Overall, Pokemon Crystal continues what Pokémon Gold and Silver have done in a great way with a lot of welcomed new features, a changed storyline for it to be more engaging, improved graphics and user interface, and the arrival of new legendary Pokemon. Download this game now to enjoy a fascinating adventure with Suicune and discover its connection to the mysterious Mythicalman researcher Eusine.
